Restorative Community Service
We recruit, train and supervise mentors for Tameside Youth Offending Team. Mentors are matched with young people serving community or custodial sentences. The aim to improve engagement with services and thus reduce reoffending and in custody cases the risk of recall to custody. We also provide a mentoring service for Tameside Early Intervention and Prevention Service for young people who have been identified at risk of becoming involved in offending, involved in anti social behaviour or exclusion from school. In addition to mentoring we recruit, train and supervise Referral Order Volunteers who sit on Referral Order Panels in the Community. These volunteers in conjunction with the YOT and the young person develop plans to reduce offending and repair harm. We recently completed a piece of consultancy work for Tameside PCT and the Local authority to identify good work and possible short falls of alcohol education and intervention for young people in the borough.
