Double Trouble
Black, Asian and minority ethnic offenders’ experiences of resettlement
This report is from Clinks and Prison Reform Trust.
The background to the study was the recognition of the critical importance of resettlement provision for prisoners, and the evidence of continuing direct and indirect racial discrimination across the criminal justice system as a whole.
The study addressed the following questions:
- What are the major resettlement needs of prisoners from black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) groups?
- How do BAME prisoners’ needs differ from those of non-BAME prisoners?
- What are BAME prisoners’ experiences of resettlement services?
- Should specialist resettlement services be made available for BAME prisoners?
