CLINKS NEWS: Clinks annual conference 2023 - extension to submission deadline
This year our annual conference aims to make race and justice everybody's business. We want to learn from the experts about what needs to happen to address racial disparity in the criminal justice system, and unite in taking action as a sector. A big thank you to those who have already expressed an interest in being involved in our programme on the day. We have decided to extend the deadline for expressions of interest for the facilitation of sessions on the day for one more week - so please do complete the submission form or get in touch at events@clinks.org by Friday 15 September.
MEMBER FOCUS: Wearside Women in Need
Wearside Women in Need provide accommodation, outreach services, group work, drop-in facilities, a 24-hour helpline and practical support such as clothing and furniture. They are a feminist organisation. In addition, they also take referrals from outside the North East, depending on the individual or family circumstances. Find out more
CLINKS MEMBER’S NEWS: a new trauma responsive residential treatment service for women

The programme is based on the Therapeutic Community model and is enhanced by individualised trauma responsive care specifically designed for women who require substance use treatment. The comprehensive group programme designed by our clinical interventions team will run alongside the Freedom Programme which aims to support survivors of domestic violence. There will also be delivery of onsite Complementary Therapies and a range of Health & Wellbeing activities including our Recovery Through Nature programme. opheliahouse.residential@phoenixfutures.org.uk
CLINKS MEMBER’S NEWS: a new animated video shares the impact of imprisonment on children
The youth team from Nepacs have worked collaboratively with Digital Voice for Communities on the DigitalMe programme to provide young people impacted by the imprisonment of a loved one with a safe and creative way to look at the different stages of the criminal justice system journey and how each one has impacted them in a variety of different ways (from pre-arrest through to resettlement of their parent back into the community). The DigitalMe approach of animating their self-portraits helps them anonymously share their experiences of the complexities and hidden stories of being directly impacted by parental imprisonment. CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM: Probation Dynamic Framework - action for all onboarded providers
His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service have been working on simplifying processes under the Dynamic Framework over the last few months, and the positive changes were made on the Jaggaer portal last month. As a result of these changes, all providers who are already onboarded to the framework are required to log in and re-submit their acceptance of 3 simple questions. If you are an onboarded provider, please ensure you log into PQQ-205: Probation Dynamic Framework Selection Questionnaire and scroll down to sections 1.1.6, 1.1.7 and 1.1.9 under the 'my response' section. This will take less than 2 minutes and is really important to ensure compliance to access future opportunities and ensure no delays in any contract awards. If you experience any difficulty in doing this, please contact the team through the PQQ messaging portal. View the Guide to The Dynamic Purchasing System. FUNDING: Lived-Experience led evaluation work
His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service are commissioning Lived Experience led evaluation work for the Peer Led Substance Use Project in Wales.
The evaluation is to capture the impact Substance Use Officers, who have lived experience, have on supporting people on probation with substance use needs. The substance use officers facilitate SMART recovery group intervention which will also be evaluated, regarding the impact this is having on people's substance use.
The evaluation will focus on the perspective of the people on probation who are engaging with the Substance use officers either through the SMART recovery group setting or on a 1:1. The budget is up to £8,000 (plus VAT).
Please send through expressions of interest, proposals (including budgets and no more than two sides of A4) to Emma.saha@justice.gov.uk by 25 September, and direct any questions to the same.
