Learning Coordinator
Back on Track is a Manchester charity that enables people facing disadvantage to make lasting, positive changes in their lives.
We run a learning centre for adults going through a process of recovery or rehabilitation, having experienced problems with alcohol, drugs, offending, mental health or homelessness.
The Learning Coordinator role is varied and interesting, combining design and delivery of new and inspiring courses with support of the day to day running of the learning programme.
Our ideal person will be an outstanding teacher who believes in learning as a vehicle for change.
They will be patient, kind, creative and inclusive with an aspirational approach to support people to build their self-worth and make progress.
Key Responsibilities
Design and deliver learning programmes
Design new courses and activities around key themes and to meet outcomes for funded projects
Plan and deliver high quality teaching, learning and assessment (typically 3-4 sessions per week)
Coordinate a calendar of enrichment activity (awareness days, themes)
Build partnerships with local organisations and partners to enhance learning activities
Provide cover for tutors as needed
Coordinate agreed aspects of the learning programme
Coordinate specific funded learning projects
Maintain oversight of course attendance and take appropriate action as required
Support Senior Curriculum Coordinator with practical and administrative aspects of the learning programme (e.g. classroom allocation, day to day tutor queries)
Contribute to creation of a vibrant learning environment
Support recruitment and coordination of Classroom Support Volunteers
Respond to day-to-day member pastoral needs
Impact and quality
Support quality assurance of teaching, learning and assessment
Work with colleagues to gather evidence of progress, achievement, and impact
Be part of the team delivering training for Back on Track volunteers
Contribute to the wider Back on Track team
Be part of the team conducting enrolments, engagement sessions and progress reviews
Work with colleagues to develop new and better ways for members to influence the curriculum
Participate in team meetings, quality improvement activities and the day to day running of services
Be flexible and willing to take on other tasks as required in keeping with changing needs and priorities
