Join ClinksProdigal Bikes works with ex-offenders, children excluded from mainstream schools and the long-term unemployed. We overhaul and upgrade mountain bikes together. We provide workshop facilities, bikes and training to allow the people we work with to learn basic Engineering skills, with a view to them pursuing further training and gaining employment in this sector.
Most of overhauled bikes are then shipped to remote pats of Africa where they are given primarily to schools to allow children there to get to school more easily, giving them a better start in life. Bikes too complex for rural Africa are given to refugees here in Somerset.
We believe the sense of achievement in making a large difference to the lives of some very poor people in Africa will make a huge difference to the people we work with, helping them to beat the cycle of reoffending, and find better more sustainable lives for themselves.
