We were commissioned to run a pilot project of floating support to those with an offending history within MTCBC. In partnership with NPS and the Homeless Team, we have adapted the project to include those due to be released from the secure estate to NFA status to ensure they have through the gate support and ongoing resettlement support once released. This project began in April 2020 during the pandemic and has increased in size due to the demand for the service.

Supporting information
“Cornerstone have recently been commissioned to support prison leavers back into tenancies within the Merthyr Tydfil County Borough area. We have been pleased with the way in which they have engaged with our often very complex service users, and supported their transitions from secure estate back into the community. Within Merthyr Tydfil we have a huge need for accommodation for single people, with demand far outstripping supply of single unit accommodation both within the Social and Private sectors. Additional resource within the borough to assist with securing and supporting people into these types of tenancies will increase capacity to move people into secure and suitable homes. Hannah Mills of MTCBC Supporting People Team issued this statement recently whilst we joined the Local Authority in securing funds to help with a difficult Private Sector in the area. Hannah is happy for you to make contact with her on Hannah.Mills@merthyr.gov.uk
