CLINKS NEWS: The Secret Life of Prisons podcast
In general election week, the Secret Life of Prisons podcast, by National Prison Radio, invited Clinks CEO Anne Fox to find out what the sector would like to see from our next government.
Anne, having gathered feedback from across the sector, discussed 5 key asks of government:
- Stop sending people to prison who shouldn’t be there.
- Give people effective support when they’re leaving prison… and prepare for that day.
- Stop sending people to prison for too long.
- Do more to help the children of people in prison.
- Lean on the expertise of the voluntary sector – and pay for it.

MEMBER FOCUS: Glasshouse Theatre CIC
Glasshouse leverages theatre for social change within the Criminal Justice System. By uniting diverse communities, they use the power of creativity to conduct impactful workshops, produce thought provoking theatre and foster dialogue to reshape perceptions of prison and those affected.
Their vision is to create trauma-informed dialogue about systemic injustice, driving social change through theatre. Glasshouse encourages active participation in criminal justice reform by holistically engaging all impacted individuals, spanning education, the prison system and the private sector. By challenging individual and societal mindsets, attitudes and misconceptions, Glasshouse hopes to influence radical reform and abolition at policy level.
As an organisation they centre the voices of those with direct lived experience of prison, either through incarceration or frontline work. Founded by ex-Prison Officers, Glasshouse champions the stories often ignored and suppressed, from within the prison walls. Find out more about Glasshouse Theatre CIC

CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM: Consultation on Community Payback
North West Probation is currently conducting its annual consultation on Community Payback. The purpose is to involve partners, the voluntary sector and organisations representing the victims of crime in the shaping of Community Payback. This engagement and your feedback will help improve probation links with community stakeholders, increase responsivity to local needs and improve the identification of projects.
North West Probation would really appreciate you taking the time to complete this Community Payback Stakeholder Consultation survey.
Please could you also share this email with your networks and partnerships so that a wide and varied audience can take part in the consultation.
