Women in the criminal justice system.
Clinks partnership with Trevi House.
These events allow you to step back from your crucial day-to-day front-line work to see the bigger picture and context in which you are working. This event focuses on women in the criminal justice system.
Speakers will include
- Lucy Baldwin, author of Mothering Justice: Working with Mothers in Criminal and Social Justice Settings.
- Women’s Centre Cornwall on why a gendered approach to criminal justice is essential and the development of an alliance of women’s community services in Devon and Cornwall
- Trevi House and service users from Sunflower Project on a new community service in Plymouth for women in recovery
- Sexual Health Outreach Project on engaging street sex workers
- National Probation Service on their women’s strategy (tbc), Working Links on the Community Rehabilitation Company’s work with women.
At this event you will
- Hear from a range of inspiring and informative speakers including women with experience of the criminal justice system (CJS), practitioners and policy makers.
- Learn about new developments affecting women in the CJS, including the Ministry of Justice female offender strategy and the Farmer Review into women’s family ties.
- Hear an update from the Clinks policy team on other criminal justice news including the probation review, education and employment strategy, rough sleepers strategy.
- Discuss opportunities for partnership working around women in the CJS in the region.
- Come away inspired about the potential for work around women in the CJS in the region and make new contacts to take the work forward.
As always, you will also be able to update Clinks on key challenges you are facing and network with other organisations in the region.
