National Criminal Justice Arts Alliance is partnering with Watts Gallery to deliver a professional practice seminar on Museums and the criminal justice system.
We will be sharing case-studies and advice on developing partnerships between museums, galleries and prisons and will be holding workshops that look at the opportunities and challenges in the sector.
The seminar is suitable for cultural organisations, freelance practitioners and those working within criminal justice and prisons.
This event coincides with Watts Gallery’s Art for All Exhibition 2018 marking 10 years of work with prisons, young offenders and community groups. Watts Gallery will be presenting an overview of their latest partnership with HMP YOI Feltham and delegates will have the chance to take a curator led tour of their current exhibitions.
Further speakers include:
Jo Augustus, Head of Art Psychotherapy at HMP Grendon
Henry Smithers, Head of Skills and Education at HMP YOI Feltham
Lynn Weddle, an artist working with young offenders
Sally Varah MBE DL, Chair of The Michael Varah Memorial Fund
Darren Raymond, Artistic Director of Intermission Youth Theatre
Erika Flowers, an artist and former prisoner
Lunch will be provided in the setting of Limnerslease, the Artists’ House at Watts Gallery.
