This webinar will focus on the question of lived experience leadership and why it is needed in the voluntary sector working in the criminal justice system. As two experienced leaders of lived experience, our presenters will reflect on what the voluntary sector gains from lived experience leadership, why we need more of it and what it means if we do not invest in building a pipeline for leadership from the communities we serve. This session is aimed at those working with women in the criminal justice system who are concerned about equity of knowledge, and inclusive workplace development.
This webinar is part of a special programme of training and support offered to small voluntary organisations (turnover less than £1.5m) that are set up to provide gender-specific services to women, including those affected by the criminal justice system. The Ministry of Justice has funded places for staff from small, specialist women’s organisations. This is part of a programme of capacity building support to promote sustainable development in order to help to strengthen the women’s specialist offer and contribute to implementation of the Female Offender Strategy.
Clinks aims to strengthen the sector by helping organisations to develop a more varied funding portfolio; support improvements in building the evidence base; engage a diverse group of women who reflect the local population, creating improvements in equality through improved practice; and explore effective service user involvement for women.
The webinar is delivered by Michaela Booth, National Patient Engagement Lead, Care UK and Paula Harriott, Head of Prisoner Involvement at the Prison Reform Trust – both leaders of lived experience with extensive expertise in the subject.
If you are a small, specialist women's organisation that was set up to work with women and you would like a place, please contact events@clinks.org. Please note that we may have to ask further questions to ascertain eligibility.
Further information will be provided with full details of how to join following registration.
