Writing successful funding bids

Do you have responsibility for writing funding bids in a small voluntary organisation (turnover less than £1.5m) that provides women-specific support in the criminal justice system?

When you submit a funding application, how often are you successful? Your time is precious and good funding opportunities few, so come and learn how to make your applications as strong as possible.

The session will enable participants to:

• prepare effectively for writing a proposal
• be confident deciding whether or not to bid 
• be aware of how to write in an appropriate and effective style 
• understand what makes a successful application or tender.

The training provides insights from the point of view of an assessor and an exercise in scoring a bid, so that you can develop an increased understanding of how to make your own bid successful.

The Ministry of Justice have funded places for small, specialist women’s organisations that are set-up to work with women and offer support to those in the criminal justice system, with a focus on capacity building and sustainable development in order to help to strengthen the women’s specialist offer and support implementation of the Female Offender Strategy.

This course is part of a special programme of training and support offered to small voluntary organisations that are set up to provide gender-specific support to women.

Clinks aims to strengthen the sector by helping organisations to develop a more varied funding portfolio; support improvements in building the evidence base; engage a diverse group of women who reflect the local population, creating improvements in equality through improved practice; and explore effective service user involvement for women.

The course is delivered by Leah Selinger, a trainer with over 17 years of experience as a fundraiser and senior manager in the voluntary sector. She has supported charities to raise income from both public agencies and private donors and organisations.  Leah runs her own independent consultancy and is NCVO associate consultant.
