MhIST (Mental Health Independent Support Team)
MhIST provides a specialised advocacy service focusing on the needs of people with mental health problems. Our advocates work in the community, in residential settings and in hospital. We have developed a service which provides for BME communities, people who live in care, nursing and residential settings, older people, LGBT communities and IMHA, as well as our mainstream work.
Secondly we provide self help support groups for people who experience - Bi polar affective disorder; Depression; Self Harm; OCD; Craft and Social and Substance abuse issues. Other group support is through Reiki Meditation; Drama Therapy and Mindfulness.
Our third offering is Talk therapy where we provide a variety of different talk therapies such as CBT, NLP, TA, Integrative approaches.
We provide Information to service users and carers via a range of linked web sites, through hard copy information leaflets and through 1-to-1 discussion.
We provide volunteering and back-to-work opportunities.
