The Big Red Food Shed Limited
We are a sustainable agriculture and horticultural therapeutic social enterprise in Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire, providing services to the long-term unemployed, people on Probation and ex-offenders, people with learning disabilities, people with mental ill health. We provide a safe space for developing confidence and improving health and well-being through gardening and growing food for the Community. We are in the process of turning four acres of derelict land into a Community Food Garden and a Sensory Garden. To accomplish this work, we engage Volunteers from the DNLR CRC, the community, those with multiple needs who can contribute their ideas and share skills. We have devised an umbrella project called SkillUp™. The purpose will be to provide skill and experience to enable our people to be more employable, socially connected and to improve their health and happiness. Our partners are The Royal Horticultural Society as we are their accredited training centre.
