St Vincent de Paul Society (England and Wales)
The St Vincent de Paul Society (or as it is often known the SVP) is an international Christian voluntary organisation dedicated to tackling poverty and disadvantage by providing practical assistance to those in need irrespective of ideology, faith, ethnicity, age or gender. Our community support projects provide a wide variety of support to those in need including Community Shops, Furniture Re-Use Projects and Advice and Support Centres. We also work with Community Payback in Yorkshire, Manchester and the North East. We run a diverse range of projects accessible to offenders and ex-offenders; these include specialist level debt and housing advice, counselling and support, community learning including English as a foreign language, literacy and numeracy courses employability skills, general welfare benefits and immigration advice. In Newcastle we operate two Approved Premises.
