Our objectives are to promote equality for disabled people in the North East of England by aiming to identify and address the impact of disability discrimination and other factors which exclude disabled people from being equal participants in communities and society; and to highlight the ways in which disability discrimination is experienced in everyday life. As a collective advocacy organisation led by disabled people we promote equal rights and diversity and work towards an end to discrimination and inequality. We do this by: carrying out research into the barriers faced by disabled people that prevent them from participating equally in society; being a voice of disabled people to bring the experience of a disabling society to policy makers, service providers and the public; and running events and carrying out projects: Difference will respond in diverse ways to raise the profile of disabled people, highlight discriminatory practices and attitudes.
