Ruth is the Head of Criminal Justice Services at St Mungo’s and holds the Accommodation Seat on the RR3 Advisory Group. She has over 17 years’ experience working across the criminal justice and homelessness sectors, with a particular focus on housing and accommodation for people leaving prison and those under probation supervision.
Throughout her career, Ruth has worked in a range of frontline, management and strategic roles, supporting people experiencing homelessness, multiple disadvantage and complex needs. She has led accommodation services in both prison, community and residential settings and has extensive experience of developing partnerships across probation, prisons, housing providers, local authorities and the voluntary sector to improve resettlement outcomes.
In her current role, Ruth oversees criminal justice accommodation services across London and wider regions, leading service development, recommissioning and innovation to increase access to safe, stable housing. She is a passionate advocate for the role that accommodation plays in reducing reoffending, improving wellbeing and supporting long-term desistance from crime and rebuilding lives.
Through her position on RR3, Ruth is committed to ensuring that the voices of accommodation providers, people with lived experience, and the voluntary sector are represented in national discussions, helping to shape policies and practices that create better housing and resettlement opportunities for people leaving prison. She hopes to voice the ideology that you cannot rebuild a life without somewhere to live; housing is the cornerstone of effective resettlement and reducing reoffending.
