Matina holds the mental health seat on the RR3, and is a registered Forensic and Occupational Psychologist, with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). She has been working in the Criminal Justice and mental health field since 2006, as a practitioner (in secure settings, courts and probation), researcher or senior leader.
Matina joined Together for Mental Wellbeing in 2009, initially as a Women’s Forensic Mental Health Practitioner at one of the London courts. Since 2019, she has been overseeing Together’s Criminal Justice services, as Head of Regional Operations. Matina has been a member of Clinks Member Advisory Forum since 2022 and sits at the Transition to Adulthood (T2A) Alliance.
Matina’s main areas of interest include women in the criminal justice system, prevention initiatives and supporting people at the earliest stage in their contact with the criminal justice system. Example of her work includes a study on “Sentencing women: considering the factors that influence decision-making”, which she competed as a fellowship from the Griffins Society. Matina is a big advocate of employee wellbeing, for all staff working within criminal justice settings, either in third sector or statutory services.
