Alasdair is the Chief Executive at Recycling Lives Charity and holds the employment seat on the RR3. Alasdair has been with Recycling Lives since 2004, helping to grow it from being a regional business with charitable aims to a respected organisation comprising both a national business and separate sector-leading social enterprise. He has always been hands-on across his roles, initially responsible for Recycling Lives Ltd’s operations and Recycling Lives’ HMP Academies offender rehabilitation programme before taking on the role of charity Chief Executive full-time.
He now oversees the residential charity, which supports homeless men and the Food Redistribution Centre, which redistributes surplus food from supermarkets to communities and charities, as well as the growing rehabilitation programme. His work – leading the teams across 11 prisons and working with employers to create employment opportunities – has led to an impressive success rate in engaging people with convictions in meaningful work and training, supporting improved lifestyles and better life chances, and ultimately reducing reoffending.
He is a board member of the Employers Forum for Reducing Reoffending, and a member of the Corbett Network. More recently he has taken on the role of Chair for HMP Preston Employment Advisory Board as well as being a trustee on the National Oversight Board for the EABs.
