Barnabus are a Christian Homeless Charity in Manchester. We offer a lifeline to around 350 vulnerable and homeless people every week, many of whom have severe addictions or mental health issues. We have our own drop-in, medical suite and offer a range of classes help with an allotment and Street Soccer Project. We visit the Red Light District and Outreach workers support prisoners due for release.

Barnardo’s runs over 1,000 services for children and families in local communities across the UK. Our work includes reaching and helping children who have been sexually exploited, young people leaving the care system, children with a parent in prison and families struggling to cope. We find loving adoptive homes and foster placements for children in care.

Barnardo's delivers family engagement services and visit centres in Dorset and West Midlands, including evidence based parenting programmes, one-to-one case work, and innovative engagement programmes to support families of prisoners and relationships with significant others. We have specialist knowledge working with vulnerable groups including working with families of veterans who are in prison and extensive experience working with care leavers.

Our award-winning approach, BBM, helps people develop their soft skills (e.g. communication, self-motivation, time-management, team-working), improving employability and wellbeing. BBM produces quantitative evidence of the changes that are made.
We support organisations through our consultancy, using BBM Diagnostic to identify and remove barriers in systems and processes that stop organisations making the most of their people and doing their best work.

Barton Hill Settlement enables our community to actively participate in positive, life-affirming activities. We offer a unique space for residents of Barton Hill and the surrounding area to celebrate, learn, create, develop, relax, socialise and play. From young people to the more mature; from new residents of our locality to those who have lived here all of their lives are all welcome.

Basis Yorkshire supports indoor and street sexworkers in Leeds with information and access to services including sexual health, housing, physical and mental health support, benefits, support regarding sexual and other forms of violence and advocacy on behalf of sexworkers. We also deliver a specialist one to one service for young people experiencing sexual exploitation and abuse in Leeds, Bradford and Hull. We also offer training nationally in all our areas of expertise and related areas and campaign for the rights of our service users.

An independent community based organisation formed on behalf of the residents of Batchley and surrounding area, a district of Redditch, Worcestershire. The charity works not only in Batchley but also in other districts of Redditch working on behalf of the residents and provides a range of services, activities and events in local neighbourhoods.

Bath Area Play Project are a small voluntary organisation that were established in 1979 to support the child’s right to play and have since its inception facilitated a range of play opportunities for children of all ages and abilities. None of these are possible without the commitment and enthusiasm of the staff, trustee and volunteer teams. We have a very high retention rate for both staff and trustees!

Many of the services that we provide today are very similar to how we started with the child and young person at the centre of everything that we do. Not only that but we have a playful creative approach to every aspect of our work and the flexibility to be able to adapt and respond to changing needs.

Be Strong is a project and registered charity with a strong Christian ethos, borne out of a passionate belief that a structured programme of supervised physical training and mentoring support can offer drug addicts and habitual offenders the opportunity to take active control of their lifestyle to improve their lives and add value to society.

Be Strong builds on positive aspects of health and well being to remedy project participant’s psychological and interpersonal issues via personal development workshops delivered simultaneously with physical training.

Beam is a social enterprise that delivers tailored 1-2-1 support to people in prison or on probation to progress them into secure employment and housing.
We work with 35 local authorities nationally and have been commissioned by the DWP across London, in Scotland, and the Midlands. Our proven model - which combines person-centred 1-2-1 support, the lived experience of our caseworkers, and the power of our innovative technology, has enabled 97% of our service users to maintain desistance. Since our founding in 2017, we have supported over 1,000 people to achieve high-quality employment and housing, despite being out of work for 5 years on average. Our comprehensive in-work and tenancy sustainment support has ensured 86% of our service users sustain employment for over 3 months and 96% sustain tenancies for over 6 months.

BearFace Theatre CIC (BFT) is an emerging community interest company using Applied Theatre methods to affect positive social change for people who are often labelled as on the margins of society. BFT uses applied theatre methods to invite positive social change to benefit individuals affected by the criminal justice system, their families and the wider community. Aiming to bring about an open sense of play, collaboration, creativity and memorable experience, inviting high quality reflective and devised theatre to be made and performed to a wide range of audiences, thus creating a wider social impact. BFT explore the use of theatre as a tool for effective conflict resolution and transformation. As a CIC BFT strive to empower the communities they work with and for by working co-operatively and collaboratively to co create work together. Using creative arts to lift marginalised and unheard voices, sharing message through inclusive high-quality performance & applied theatre programmes.

Beating Time runs two continuous prison programmes with the aim of improving mental health and social inclusion in prison and employment opportunities on release. Choirs Beating Time is our weekly group singing and performance programme. Inside Job is our peer-led employment programme working in prison and supported by our team through-the-gate and on release.

Bedford Womens Centre is based in the Raleigh Centre which is in the Cauldwell ward of Bedford on Ampthill Road. Our aim is to support women in the community to improve the quality of life for them and their families. We offer one to one support and mentoring, weekly workshops, training courses and support groups for women to promote healthy relationships and eradicate Domestic Abuse. The centre is run by Family Groups Bedford, which is a registered charity who have provided services to the local community since 1982.

Being on Purpose supports people in recovery from substance misuse who want to make positive changes so that they can lead purposeful and productive lives.
We provide coaching and group work opportunities to enable people to develop the motivation, confidence, skills and self esteem in order to move forward with hope and optimism. Our specialist area is resilience focused mindfulness for recovery.

Belong aims to put the needs of victims and perpetrators of crime at the heart of all that we do. Our vision is of a world where there is hope, rehabilitation and recovery for victims and perpetrators of crime. Providing long term, individualised responses to conflict and crime is core to our mission.

Our services include mentoring, art therapy and restorative justice interventions. We work with children, young people and adults in custodial and community settings, with a specific focus on people who are hard to engage. We also deliver successful restorative justice and mediation training to professionals in the criminal justice sector.

The Bendrigg Alternative (BA) scheme is designed to provide opportunities for offenders or people ‘at risk’ of offending to work alongside, supporting and encouraging disabled people throughout their stay at Bendrigg. Since the scheme’s inception in 1991, many people have benefited from such a positive, and often powerful, experience which has helped change the way they think and relate to others and thereby reduce their offending behaviour.

It provides people with the opportunity to give something back to society, to look at themselves and to put a new perspective on their lives. They have opportunities to give their time and energy to others, share in what really matters, be trusted and valued and be responsible for others. The experience puts their life into context, to see things differently and importantly to be ‘themselves’, which is very difficult when in a custodial situation. What is truly amazing is that everyone rises to the challenge and makes the most of their experience.

BEST is a voluntary organisation dedicated to visiting foreign nationals in HM Prison Wandsworth, South London. It was founded in 1996 to support people held in detention centres or in prison who were seeking sanctuary and required befriending and support. We focus on this group because they are particularly vulnerable and often have to cope with serious difficulties and anxieties without support from friends, relatives or having anyone to talk to.

We visit everyone in this category who requests a BEST visit for as long as they want our visits to continue. Where possible we also try to support detainees after their release from prison.

We liaise closely with other organisations working with foreign prisoners and detainees and, where suitable, refer cases to colleagues specialising in associated areas such as law, health care, housing etc., as required.

Beyond Recovery provides a cost-effective, evidence-based intervention enabling people in prison to uncover their innate mental well-being and improve their mental health and behaviour in prison. This enables them to have a stronger sense of purpose and to live a more satisfying and law-abiding life on release. We are committed to growth and impact through empowering prisoners to help themselves and each other through our Apprentice programs and Academy.

Post COVID-19 we have developed a Remote Service including Self-Study material, guided DVD’s and facilitator guided one-to-ones for prison residents. Online mentoring and guidance for our returning residents and their families in the community. And a community voluntary organisation led by people with lived experience.

Impact is achieved through personal realisation, or insight. Outcomes include significant increase in mental wellbeing, purpose in life and pro-social behaviour, and decrease in violence.

Beyond the Gate is a magazine published by ex-offenders for people entering and leaving custody. The point of the magazine is to encapsulate information that people in those situations need, and to sign-post them in the right direction to get any help they need. As well as features by these support groups and organisations, the magazine will also feature stories from people who have successfully broken their own offending cycles and are now leading crime-free lives.

Chance 2 Change is an 8 session group based programme, using the cognitive behavioural therapy to reduce negativity and marginalisation in our communities. Each group works intensively with up to 10 clients and seeks to nurture good where otherwise negative behaviour can become prevalent. We aim to make other interventions more effective and responsive by creating a solid foundation of emotional strength upon which other services can be used to build a complete and robust package of support.

Without tackling the underlying causes of why marginalisation exits in the first place it is very difficult to bring about lasting change and therefore it is necessary to alter the thinking patterns of participants before addressing the practical issues otherwise their underlying emotions will always cause conflict both in themselves and others. We believe and have demonstrated that change must start from within and we are best placed to deliver this.
