Hospitality Apprentice

Are you in recovery from Addiction?

Do you wish to learn a career in Hospitality?

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Hospitality Apprenticeship, on a 12 months full time contract basis, at the Trew Café in Hackney.

About Us

We are Forward, the social enterprise that empowers people to break the cycle of crime or addiction to move forward with their lives. For more than 25 years we have been working with people to build positive and productive lives, whatever their past. We believe that anyone is capable of lasting change. Our services have supported thousands of people to make positive changes and build productive lives with a job, family, friends and a sense of community.

Role Overview

Forward’s hospitality scheme is open to people in recovery from addictions and ex-offenders who wish to start a career in the hospitality industry. The scheme offers paid work and training in Forward’s Trew Café in Hackney and with partner organisations.

Trew Café’s aim is to continue supporting our local community, to be the friendliest café around and to serve reliable and delicious food.

Eligibility and Selection

The Apprenticeship scheme will only be open to people in 12 Steps recovery from drug and/or alcohol addiction – subject to a minimum of two years since last drug/alcohol use.

Apprentices must be demonstrating a commitment to maintaining their ongoing recovery: for example, by attending support groups, meetings, engaging in therapy or sponsorship or other recovery focused activities.

As part of this role The Forward Trust will contribute towards a qualification in Hospitality, so a commitment and ability to study in your own time are essential.

Forward offers an excellent benefits package including work-related clinical supervision allowance, Simply Health coverage, competitive annual leave entitlements and a contributory pension scheme. We also support our employees to achieve both professional and personal development.

We are committed to equality of opportunity. We select candidates based their abilities and skills and nothing else. We are dedicated to enhancing the diverse profile of our organisation to reflect the communities within which we work.
