NEPACS
Nepacs staff and volunteers offer a range of services including prison visitors' centres and tea bars, play sessions for prisoners' children, youth projects, family support, parenting and relationship programmes and support within the Teesside courts, Newcastle and Durham Crown Courts. In our visitors centres our teams support first time visitors and working with CRCs we help prisoners and their families to prepare for release. For professionals in the north east Nepacs also offers advice and support in their work with families of prisoners through the delivery of Hidden Sentence training, awareness sessions and liaison with our family support workers or youth team.
POPS (Partners Of Prisoners and Family Support Group)
We achieve this through a range of prison-based and community focused support services including: Family Support Services delivered at 11 prisons across the North-West/Yorkshire; ‘Through the Gate’ support for prisoners and their families; community-based support for women through POPS’ Women’s Centre (Oldham); community-based interventions for prisoners from BAME backgrounds; training for professionals; restorative practice programmes and community-based support for families attached to the CRC’s Intensive Community Order (generating £6.52 of economic/social value for every £1 spent).
Prison Advice and Care Trust (Pact)
Pact works in over 65 prisons and 8 CRCs and provides prison-based family engagement workers, visitors’ centres, visitor support, supervised play, catering and family activities, relationship and parenting education programmes, court and community family support, ‘Through the Gate’ family resettlement support and community based mentoring and befriending programmes.
We also run the HMPPS contracted National Prisoners' Families Helpline which can be reached 7 days a week on 0808 808 2003.
RFEA – The Forces Employment Charity
Project Nova is an early intervention scheme working in conjunction mainly with the Police and NHS dealing with Ex Military personnel who have been arrested or are on the periphery of doing so. Project Nova works with many partner organisations including HMPPS & CRCs and local authorities along with numerous military charities.
Step Together Volunteering
Working on both sides of the prison gate, to ensure seamless progression from prison to community, the programme enables people who would otherwise be excluded from society to participate in positive and purposeful diversionary activity, improving integration, building a sense of belonging and involvement, a resilience to turn their back on the past, and opening significant opportunities for the future. The programme works with all offenders and ages, regardless of the offence committed.
