Resources to help build partnerships and collaboration
We would all agree it is important for the voluntary sector to engage in partnerships and collaborative working. The increasing size of many contracts has led to a greater need to bid in consortia or enter into subcontracting relationships. Collaboration offers the possibility for more holistic, integrated services - and in difficult economic times, may offer opportunities for reducing expenditure.
However, building successful partnerships is not always easy. Clinks aims to support the sector to develop effective partnerships and collaboration; below are some of our resources to help you do just that:
Making partnerships work for you
This guide highlights some of the issues that could arise in developing partnerships, particularly in the context of subcontracting relationships, and some of the benefits you should be looking to secure from your partners. Written by ACEVO and Candour Collaborations in partnership with Clinks, it includes important principles that will apply in Transforming Rehabilitation arrangements and other contracting opportunities, and in other areas of your work. It offers advice on how to consider the partnerships you are entering into, or the ones you would like to develop.
Partnership Finder
Clinks' Partnership Finder is an online directory of voluntary sector organisations working in criminal justice and rehabilitation. It is designed to help you identify partners, build consortia, and promote your services to commissioners and other providers. To browse the directory, and add your service, click here
Developing a criminal justice network
This guide to developing a criminal justice network advises on how to set up a network of voluntary sector organisations in order to collaborate and develop a strategic voice to influence commissioners in your local area.
Legal structures and information
Understand some of the legal implications of different collaborative arrangements with this module, part of our guide to the Industry Standard Partnering Agreement (ISPA) developed for use in Transforming Rehabilitation supply chains. The guide includes useful information for any organisation thinking about partnership work.
Good practice case studies
This series of grant reports from Clinks and NAVCA's Local Innovation and Partnership Grants in 2012-13 illustrate good practice in bringing together statutory and voluntary sector providers and other stakeholders to jointly address local issues in the Criminal Justice System.
