Nepacs and its forerunners have been working in the north east of England to to support a positive future for prisoners and their families for over 135 years. Since 1882, the structure of the organisation and our services have changed, but NEPACS’ commitment to helping people affected by imprisonment remains constant.
Nepacs staff and volunteers offer a range of services including prison visitors' centres and tea bars, play sessions for prisoners' children, youth projects, family support, parenting and relationship programmes and support within the Teesside courts, Newcastle and Durham Crown Courts. In our visitors centres our teams support first time visitors and working with CRCs we help prisoners and their families to prepare for release. For professionals in the north east Nepacs also offers advice and support in their work with families of prisoners through the delivery of Hidden Sentence training, awareness sessions and liaison with our family support workers or youth team.
