Believing We Can - Faith in the Criminal Justice Sector
Date: 26th February 2008
We invite the faith based voluntary sector to have its say, promote its organisations
and look at new ways of working in partnership with the Prison service, Probation
service and Youth Offending Teams. This is a real opportunity to shape the future
direction of the NOMS Reducing Reoffending Faith/ Voluntary and Community Sector Alliance
in the North West, and inform best practice models at a national level.

OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS
Yorkshire & Humberside BME Event
Date: 6th February 2008
Clinks and HMPS Yorkshire & Humberside are holding an event to increase services
to BME offenders in custody. The purpose of the event is not
to provide all the answers but to raise awareness about the needs of BME offenders
and to begin to set a direction as to how these needs can be met. Yorkshire and Humberside
benefits from a very rich and diverse population and there are a range of skills and
expertise that can be drawn upon to help reduce re-offending.
We appreciate that each organisation attending the event will be at a different stage
of development and will have different responsibilities. After the event we will produce
a report with recommendations that will encourage a multi-agency approach to this
important issue.

Delivering Effective Interventions
Location: London
Dates: 10th January OR 19th February 08
In order to develop the potential for increased VCS contribution to delivering interventions,
the NOMS Interventions and Substance Misuse Unit are planning two events in early
2008. These events will both provide information about the evidence, standards, content
and process involved in delivering interventions but also seek your views on the challenges
and possible solutions to increasing VCS involvement. Deadline
for applications: 14th December 2007
